	"Only Jesus"

"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:9-11).

A name that is above every name! A name that is above, greater than, and higher than the angels who are eternally the messengers of God. Jesus Christ is greater than Gabriel and Michael, the two highest angels of God. Even these great angels will bow to Jesus and call Him holy.

A name that is above, greater than, higher than all the great men of the past. George Washington was the first president of the United States. He truly was a great man. Abraham Lincoln was a very great president who made important decisions that saved our nation. In Bible days, there were great men such as Abraham, Moses, John the Baptist, the disciples and Paul.

The greatest man ever to be born was Jesus Christ. One day all men, great and small will bow their knees to Him and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. His Name shall be called Jesus, "And she (Mary) shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21).

The angel from God told Joseph to name the baby, Jesus. The verse explains that His name is Jesus because He shall save His people from sin. The name Jesus means Saviour. Jesus is His earthly name meaning He is the Saviour of all people. Christ is His heavenly name meaning the Anointed One.

The name Christ is used over three hundred times in the New Testament. Jesus is His name, Christ is His title. From the name Christ comes the name Christian. These two names, Jesus and Christ, mean that He is the God-Man. He is a man, earthly name, Jesus but He is also God, eternal name, Christ.

What a wonderful name! Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Who Named Him? - In Bible days the mother usually named the newborn babe. Sometimes, however, the father or others would name the babe. But Jesus was different from other babies. God sent His name by an angel. Jesus was named by His Heavenly Father, God. The angel spoke to Joseph in a dream saying, "....Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:20, 21).

Jesus Christ was given many different names. In the Bible He has over 200 different names. Some of His names are: Lord, Saviour, Emmanuel, the King, Master, Redeemer, Messiah, Prince of Peace, the Judge, the Way, the Truth, the Light, the Life, the Word, the Door, the Lamb of God, Prince of Peace, and many, many more. Just a few names cannot describe or tell the true meaning of the name Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Truly Jesus Christ has a name that is above every name! There is only one name by which people can be saved.

ONLY JESUS

In a revival in Kentucky I was preaching to both the hearing and deaf in signs and voice. As I preached, I asked the question, "If you died today, would you go to Heaven?" A deaf lady, who was 69 years of age, raised her hand and signed, "Yes." I then asked her, "Why?" She signed, "Because I keep the Ten Commandments and I read my Bible daily." I signed, "Only Jesus can save you, not Ten Commandments or reading your Bible." She became angry and continued to sign to me as I preached. She signed, "Only Jesus?" I would continue to preach to the hearing but I would nod my head to her, "Yes." This happened several times. When I gave an invitation for people to come and be saved, the deaf lady stepped out and signed, "Now I understand, Only Jesus."

She prayed with me and was saved. Then she became angry again. I said, "What is wrong?" She signed, "Why didn't someone tell me before? If I had died, I would have gone to Hell."

Later when she was baptized, she stood in the water, clapped her hands, smiled and signed, "Only Jesus, only Jesus!"

One year later I returned to the church and the deaf lady ran to meet me. She kissed me on the cheek (my wife said it is OK if they are over 70) then she signed, "Only Jesus!"

There is no other name that will save. "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). Only Jesus, Only Jesus!

Deaf friend, please listen to me. When you die, God will not ask you the name of your church. He will not ask if you are Baptist, Church of God, Lutheran, Methodist, Catholic, Jewish or any other church. When you die, it is too late to be saved. Be saved now and go to Heaven with me. I am not trying to pull you from your church but I want you to know that you are truly saved. I want to meet you in Heaven. Jesus Christ died for your sins, He arose to forgive you and He is now alive in Heaven waiting for you to receive Him as your Saviour (John 1:12). Pray now and receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour. As you enter Heaven you can say, "Only Jesus, Only Jesus."

[  ] "Yes, I now pray and receive Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I am now saved...Amen"
