The Learning Pyramid

Have your ever heard or felt, “Our Deaf Class is boring.” Why? Possibly because the teacher only lectures. Over the years I have learned that, when I do all the talking, the class does not learn as much. Real learning improves when the class participates by asking questions and sharing their thoughts, and helping explain the topic to each other. Sharing Bible lessons should be interesting. The truths can change lives, but only if they are truly understood.

Studies have shown that people learn more when they participate. One such study found that people remember the following percentages:

Lecture 5% – Reading text 10% – Audio Visual 20% – Demonstration 30%
Group Discussion 50% – Learn by Doing 75% – Themselves Teaching 90%

Allow your Bible class students to participate, share ideas, and learn by doing. Make your Bible class
