Week 30 – God Is At Work Whether You Know It Or Not

God is at Work Whether you Know it or not

God’s providential care is working in your life whether you are aware of it or not. God works even while you sleep. He has a providential care that controls the ministry in spite of you and even without your knowledge or permission. At times, you may not understand His working or His ways. You may even question His will for your life. His ways may twist and turn but the end results are in His control. One woman said during a stormy night, “Well, I’m going to sleep. There is no need for me and the Lord both to stay awake during the storm.” God will have the final word and it will be “good.”

Examples: Some never saw the working of God in their lifetime.
1. Naomi was ten years in Moab without understanding why,
2. Joseph had thirteen years from the pit to the palace.
3. Job suffered for one year and never knew why.
4. Noah was in the ark without a map or compass.
5. Ruth never knew that she was in the lineage of Christ.
6. David the shepherd boy never dreamed of being king.
7. Mary had to ponder those things in her heart.
8. Abraham never saw the city he was looking for.
9. Paul never knew his letters would impact the world.

Illustration: “And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver” (Malachi 3:3). A Christian visited a silversmith to learn the meaning of this verse. The silversmith held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. The silversmith explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. He then asked why he had to “sit as a refiner” in front of the fire the whole time. The silversmith smiled and answered that not only did he have to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The Christian then asked, “How do you know when the silver is fully refined?” He smiled and answered, “Oh, that’s easy — when I see my image in it.” God does not keep you over the fire too long or too short. His timing will always be just right. When you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God will “sit as a refiner” until He can see His image in you. There is an unseen hand that guides our ways. Remember, God is still working on you and your ministry even when you are asleep. He sits as a refiner and never takes His eyes off you.
